Looking for a machinist and a welder for some kettle work
Need to drill a hole in a stainless pot, and weld a coupling in that hole.
And I would like to find a machinist to fabricate a couple little money-maker ideas.

My buddys dad owns a machine shop. Stainless has to be tig welded. Could be pricey, as tig welding machines are the most expensive to buy. Try and find a kitchen hood/exhaust fab shop. That would be your best and most economical bet.

I have a friend that has a full machine shop in his garage at home and specializes in Tig welding (for SS) He's in Lansing IL and he does projects on the side if you're interested.

That would be awesome. I live in Homewood, so he's only several miles away. I have a kettle in desperate need of a valve.
PM me his info, and I'll get in touch with him. Thanks.

As long as he knows I'll be calling. I don't want to call him up and he doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about.

Nope, I've already sent him a text to expect some phone calls....
He's actually welded 1/2" NPT nipples on several of our pots. Once those are there, you can put valves, thermometers, site glasses etc....whatever you would need.

Does he have a supplier for said nipples/couplers, or should I procure them myself?
I do love typing nipples...

I'm sure he can get them, but you might be better off just ordering the "nipples" from Mc Master Carr catalog or Grainger and bringing everything to him.

I used to work for Gordon Ward years ago. Specialty Steel was the name of the place. Gordy is TOP GUN. Excellent machinist, he can 'see' an idea in his head as you describe it like no one else I know, and I know many. Look him up. And if you do tell him Rick Jureczko said HELLO!
