Kegerator build

Post  BassClefBrews on Thu Feb 18, 2010 8:37 pm

So I acquired a chest freezer from Bob, and would like to share my kegerator build with everyone.
This is what I started with

Wood cut for collar

Assembled collar

I sanded the collar and smoothed the edges

I applied the second coat of paint to the collar today, and I'm waiting for my faucets to come in. I'll post more pics when I get more done. My plan is to start out with just 4 taps and work my way up to 8. The collar will attach to the lid so I don't have to hump 5 gallon kegs over the faucets.

Nice...keep us posted.

I recently acquired an 8.8cu. ft. freezer and will convert it as soon as I get a bit of time. I am going to attach the collar to the body of the freezer, and relocate the hinges to the collar. My cooler is kind of old and I don't want to stress the hinges with the added weight of the collar and faucets/lines.

Do you have any plans on using it to lager an exterior chill box?

I thought of buying another thermostat and mounting a computer fan into the 2x4 collar for cycling cold air through an exterior lager box or keg chest.

No. I just plan on using it as a kegerator. I have a Stand up freezer that I'm going to use for lagering.

Wow... 8 taps!
Keeping just 3 of mine flowing all at once has been a little harder than I thought.

I take it you're already doing 10 gallon batches???
Or do you brew every weekend???

BTW, Nice lookin' job!

So here is an update. IT'S DONE!!! cheers Well, I still have to install the remaining taps, which will be done in a couple of hours from now. I'm only going to install 5 taps, as it will only hold 6 corny kegs. 5 taps, so that I can also use it for lagering.

I secured the beer line with clips to the lid, that way there is no stress on the lines when opening the lid.

The best thing is the wife says that because it turned out so well I can now rip out the wall that separates my music room, from where the kegerator is to create one big space consisting of a hug area for my musical equipment that will contain a bar that I will be building.
