National Homebrew Day May 1 2010

Here is some food for thought. National Homebrew Day is May 1, 2010. I know its kind of a ways off but we should think about getting the group together on that day and registering our brewing site. Maybe we could open discussion at the january or February meeting about location. Possibly ask permission to use the Crown Brewing parking lot. Link is below.

+1 for all of the above! Great idea!

If we're going to do this, we need to work out all the details at the upcoming April meeting. I think it would be pretty cool to do it. We could probably even get one of the papers to send out a photographer or something to get some free publicity for the club. Anyone else interested?

Brought this up at the meeting last night, but it didn't really seem like anyone wanted to discuss it much. Steve (brewer @ Crown) wasn't sure if they could host. Something about amateurs producing beer at a brewpub or something like that. Doesn't make sense to me, since wort is just sugar water until it ferments, which wouldn't be happening there. After that it kind of got dropped. I would still like to take part, if anyone else is still interested.

This obviously can't be put off until the next meeting. Is anyone interested in hosting if Crown is out?

How many people? How much space? Indoors/outdoors? I have banquet center space, though we couldn't allow brewing (open flames and such) in the room. Access to the kitchen as well, but could probably only get 2-3 kettles on the stove at any one time.

Can host in the parking lot, or on the island outside, but either will require some cooperation from the weather gods.

If it matters any, we have a 3-way liqueur license, but that should really only matter with beer consumed, not beer brewed.

I use a turkey fryer to boil, so outside works for me.
