two questions
Has anyone ever brewed a double beer, meaning brewing it twice or if doing an extract beer using wort instead of water? Would that work? Next question can you distill beer? What would the outcome be? Would it even be drinkable?
Re: two questions
I'm not sure what you mean by "double beer". Do you mean mashing grains with wort instead of water? I guess that would just make a really high gravity beer. If that were my goal I'd just use tons more grain or extract.
And yes, you can distill beer. Moonshine is made by making a "beer" out of corn, then distilling it, and I suppose all whiskey is made from mashed grains. I don't know what you'd get if you distilled a beer you've made with barley and hops, but you can definitely do it. However, it is illegal to do so in the U.S. You'd have to go to New Zealand or some such place.
